Water Availability Prediction
A wide variety of environmental data is available from NASA missions on weather phenomena that impacts agriculture production, but many producers are either unaware of these data sets or are discouraged from accessing and using the data because of the enormity and complexity of the sets. To bring NASA’s rain, snow, and water data products into the hands of consumers NWB Sensors has submitted a proposal to the NASA Small Business Innovative Research program. The proposed project would develop an application to produce actionable water availability predictions for winter wheat producers in northern climates such as Montana. These data will cover the full growing season including year round weather, winter snow cover, spring water recharge, and summer rain. All of these data products will be derived from publicly available data.
